What Does Lost Garden Mean?

It’s been nearly two years since the idea of a business came up at home with Kata: creating a secluded, cabin-style, nature-centered community garden near Tamási, offering a sanctuary for those looking to escape the stress of city life.

The plan was to build this on nearly 3 hectares of land at the edge of a nature reserve. This would have been Lost Garden. Or rather, hopefully, it still will be… but more on that later.

That was the initial idea. Kata and her brother, Gábor, worked hard on the concept, financing, and implementation, but for various reasons, the project couldn’t start at the time.

Then, at the beginning of 2023, Kata and I began discussing the possibility of her leaving her job to pursue something she could do with real passion. Kata is a food engineer, having graduated in biotechnology from Corvinus University, and she has been working with herbs for a long time. This interest partly stems from her own health challenges, including severe joint issues and other physical problems rooted in emotional stress. After several months of planning, she came up with the idea of creating dietary supplements that are completely free of additives.

And this, too, could be called Lost Garden. Why?

The Lost Knowledge

Because, in many ways, the natural remedies that can help without side effects have nearly been forgotten in today’s modern medical world. During a trip to Sri Lanka, we visited a herbal garden and had a long conversation with the owner’s son. The locals refer to the owner as a “doctor,” even though he doesn’t have a degree. The son said:
“We used to have our herbs, and then the English came. They brought hospitals, and then we started having patients.”

Herbs can help solve and prevent numerous problems. For us, the name Lost Garden beautifully encapsulates this meaning. It refers to almost-forgotten knowledge and the healing power of herbs.

Finding Ourselves

For me, Lost Garden has another powerful meaning, which is reflected in the packaging slogan: “Enter Your Inner Garden.” Throughout our lives, as we grow up, we live under constant expectations—hearing what we should be, what we should do. In trying to meet these expectations, we lose sight of who we really are. As a result, the garden of our soul becomes barren, as we no longer even know how to find ourselves.

One of the most important goals in my life today is to reconnect with who I truly am and let this inner garden flourish again. I want it to become lush, vibrant, and alive—what it was always meant to be. Our dietary supplements aim to help bring the body to a state—or close to a state—where it feels good to exist. Because how can anyone feel at peace if their body is constantly aching, tired, or dysfunctional? How can you feel good if it doesn’t feel good to live in your body?

Our Roots

There’s also another message, which is perhaps hinted at by the names of our products, ADAM and EVE. In European culture, the Bible and Christianity have deeply rooted significance. We are surrounded by images and associations connected to this. Even if we are not religious, we know that the lost garden, from which Adam and Eve were banished, was a place where everything was good—where harmony with ourselves and nature existed.

We are searching for that place, the place where we can feel at home, where we can feel safe enough to be our true selves. And that is a beautiful state of being.

More Than Supplements

For us, Lost Garden is much more than just a dietary supplement brand. We’re searching for ideas, products, and services that can fill the name with the deeper meanings described above.

As part of this, we’re planning to launch several new initiatives in the near future. Hopefully, by autumn, we’ll be able to share more about these with you.
